Math Tutor recommendation or tutoring centers in pg county

I am wondering if any parents can recommend any math programs in the evening or weekend, tutors or math centers that are reasonable and can help me second grader with math. We have transitioned from private to public and it is crazy the common core method. Her first test she did not do well and i want to help her early in the year.

Hello. I am a elementary tutor and work in PGCPS. Where are you located? I tutor on weekends and travel between the college park and oxon hill area.

I've been taking my kids to the Kumon Center in Greenbelt for years for mainly math, some reading. It's a big commitment - 30 min of homework every day plus go to the center 1-2 times a week. But it really works. We started going when my oldest was in 3rd and was far behind. I started my other kids in 2nd before they could fall behind. I didn't trust the school system any more. My kids should do advertisements for Kumon because they are at the top of their math classes now and have solid confidence.

Kumon is just drilling math facts. It doesn't matter if you do Kumon or some other math program - just stick with it, every day.

Also try Khan Academy. It helped my son. It has instructional videos and practice problems

This a great tutoring company. They come to you or meet in a local library. Very intimate if you want one-on-one attention for your child.
