Why did my pumpkins not grow?

| This is the first year my pumpkin plants did not make actual pumpkins. We planted around July 4th, later than we normally do. The plant is OK, and there are yellow flowers, but only one tiny little green pumpkin ball. Same soil, same watering, same seed brand. Other veggies and melons in garden are growing. What happened? Is this a lack of the right kind of bee problem? |

| DId you hand pollinate with a q-tip? That is the only way I get them to pollinate without getting bees. |
