I am very petite - 5'2" and about 100 pounds. I can't seem to find clothes that fit well (that are stylish). Can anyone recommend some places to try in the NoVa area?
Thanks!! |
| I'm 5'1" and 100 pounds also and most of my clothes are from Ann Taylor Loft. |
| I am 5'2 and stick to J. Crew petites. Unofrtunately, they are online only but yuo can return to the store. |
| Banana Republic Petites in Tysons? |
| OP here - thanks! Does anyone know if there is a store like Anthropologie that has petites? |
|
Don't know but there is one in Reston Towne Center. You could prob call and ask.
I agree with the other PPs too about J.Crew, AT Loft and Banana Republic. |
| Anthropologie carries petite sizes online. |
| I am an Ann Taylor fan, but I have also found some good stuff in Macy's and Nordstrom. I sometimes also browse the Juniors sections and find good stuff - mostly for staples, but I found a really nice dress at Macy's juniors section for some October weddings and a great winter coat at Nordstrom. So strange to shop in juniors in my 30's, but so many of the women's petite sections just look too old for me. If you want to stick to the women's sections, Nordstrom's petite clothing is a little more trendy. Depending on what you are looking for, you could also try Express and Old Navy - I found jeans in both of those stores not too long ago. |
| Banana petite is good; so are the petite clothes that Anthropoligie has. Although, honestly, sometimes it's worth getting pants, etc., hemmed. The selection is always so much better for non-petite clothes. |

Lord and Taylor at Tysons has a good petite selection and while there is plenty of frump, they also carry the Michael Kors and Kenneth Cole lines which tend to be more on trend. (Nordstrom carries these too.) I second Ann Taylor and Banana. For pants I'd also recommend the Gap (which has some decent basics in "ankle" length and has recently improved, in my opinion, under its new creative director.) I also sometimes buy inexensive pants ("short" length) at New York and Co. --stuff like yoga/lounge pants which is sometimes hard to find. Like the Gap, not all styles come in different lengths. I've even found some decent tops at Talbots--particularly for work (I find the fit and cut of their pants and dresses to be more on the matronly side). Bennetton doesn't have petites but I find their cuts tend to work well for short/small people, with some tailoring.
I've found some great petitie stuff in brands like BCBG in Loehmanns and Filenes Basement but it is totally hit or miss. If you are short you have to scour around to get a decent wardrobe! |
