What is AAP in FCPS?

Anonymous
I am not in FCPS but considering a move and would love to learn about AAP, how to apply, etc. Thanks!

Come back with a specific question

AAP is most often referenced as really the full time center schools. That's what people want their kids in.

No true. Some schools have great LLIV programs, less good centers
Anonymous
Perhaps. But LLIV is not 100% aap center eligible kids. A center is prime-only the top kids.

If you don't know what it is, why do you want to apply?

(BTW, you don't apply, but whatever).

Here's a good Prezi on Level IV AAP:

AAP is currently a joke in FCPS.

What do you mean, "currently?"

It needs to be either weeded down into a gifted and talented program, which means cutting about 80% of the current kids in it, or abolished entirely. I don't think they're allowed to do the latter, so maybe the former is appropriate.

Your kid didn't get ? Sorry

PP here. My kid actually did get in: when it was a GT program. Most of the kids in AAP today are above average teacher-pleasers.

+1
FCPS has truly messed up what used to be a valuable program for kids who actually needed it.

That might be true at some schools, but is certainly not true at all schools.

Good one PP! Feels good doesn't it, knowing that your kid made the cut back when it meant something? What year was that anyway? Just curious. There seems to be a number of posters who make similar points and, presumably years later, still manage to follow the hapless paths of our pathetic, above average teacher pleasers. I could never have your dedication. It must be a GIFT!
