The timing of pumpkins

When do you plant seeds and then when do you put the seedlings in the soil?

We did this one year and the plants were thriving but just before the fruits appeared the Japanese stink bugs ate the whole plants flat to the ground.

Really? No on?
I posted this ages ago.

Please, someone take pity on a pumpkin novice!

I'm a novice too but I heard you plant on the 4th of July for Halloween harvest.

you gotta plant them in may ... some pumkins take 120 days to be mature (seedling to harvest)

We moved into a new home in early summer - there were a bunch of random pumpkins already growing. They seem to be ripening now, or at least are ripe enough for the wildlife to enjoy. It took them a while to make flowers that got fertilized (I guess) but after that they have been growing steadily.

I guess if you want them later, plant later? Read what the package says about time to harvest!

Thanks. I will start again next May.
