I hope I've put this in the right place.
My SIL's maternity leave is over, and she is going back to work as a nurse in a few weeks. She hated her job before she left and she is very sad about the transition. I know this is a really hard thing for a lot of moms (though I am not one myself yet.. working on it) and I really want to send her a little care package to let her know I'm thinking of her. She's across the country, so there's not much I can do to help them out day-to-day - wish I could. Any suggestions on things to include? Thanks so much in advance. |
Healthy snacks! She needs to take care of herself. |
One of those video picture frames so she can have updated photos of the baby.
Healthy snacks Something pampering--nice chocolates, lotion, etc. |
Right before I came back from maternity leave a co-worker emailed and asked for a recent picture of my baby. When I got to work she had framed it and put it on my desk. It was so sweet, I cried all day. Any way you can send something to the office for her? |
A framed picture of her baby (though as a nurse she likely doesn't have a desk so maybe a photo album she can keep in her bag), a Starbuck's gift card, a cool water bottle for work, will she be pumping? Maybe a hands-free nursing bra |
Your sympathy alone will mean a lot. What a nice SIL you are to recognize that it will be tough for a while. |
I'd agree with so many of these responses! I had trouble pumping, and developed the following routine.
I'd eat chocolate at my desk (or crouched over next to the toilet at the Reagan Building, ARG) wrapped in a shawl looking at pictures of my baby OR reading People magazine. So now I send pumping moms that care package--chocolate, shawl, magazines. Also a water bottle. I was thirsty as hell. |
