best local landscapers---and privacy tree ?s

Anonymous
Hi - our backyard is devoid of trees and we just put in an in-ground hot tub and had a new slate patio built.

The back fence has overhead power lines--so I am not looking for super tall trees. On one side of our yard- a neighbor already has Leyland Cyprus so good to go. The other side--I am thinking of adding my own Leyland.

I don't want to spend a ton of $ on the privacy trees because we've had a lot of expenses of late. I read about the 'Emerald Green Thuga' which maxes at 10-12ft and is attractive and thinking about it for the back fence line.

Where can I find the most inexpensive trees that are hardy? I've seen mixed reviews on 'fast-growing trees' online. Some are excellent.

Any recommendations for a local landscaper that isn't outrageously priced? I am in Arlington.

thanks!

L. Cyprus is probably the best but it does grow real tall if conditions are right. Why can't you plant yourself? It's not that hard...

Go to Merrifield and talk to their folks who work with trees. Planting a tree is easy; choosing is the more complicated part.

Thanks. I'm lazy- but perfectly capable of planting trees.

The online trees are much, much cheaper than local garden centers and some have gotten great reviews.

Anyone ordered their trees from an online company? Soecific revs?

Thanks! After years in a rowhouse with only a brick patio---I now have a yard and know nothing.

Following so please let us know where you decide to buy and what you end up planting.

when planting them realize how they grow, most people put them too close together and suffocate them .. 6 feet apart is best they will grow

I think I've decided on "Emerald Green Thuga" for back fence line. I need about 10-12 spaced 3 feet apart. They only get to 8-12 ft so this is good for overhead power lines.

On the one side I am doing 3 Leyland Cyprus...6 ft apart.

I will do some flowering bushes in the beds around the patio.

I am researching online companies and local nurseries for best reviews/deals. I see some sell them as tall as 4-5FT but it is much more expensive to start that big.

Any other recs for something with more height than width? (And takes up less area than Leyland Cypress).

Thanks!
