I don’t drive, like at all, so I’m not against using the bus. But especially when it gets warmer, it would really cut into the fun to have to time leaving the amusement park to meet a bus and wait for the bus. With ubers available I don’t see any reason why not to use them where their value maximizes the day. Also if you want more people to go car free I think it’s important to show how it can be done without a lot of trouble! We have great car-free vacations patching together trains, transit and ubers. |
I have no real agenda in terms of others going car free. I started this thread to see if others successfully used only busses and walking for their trip. Some posters asked me to report back. I had a lovely trip with my 6 year old. We walked a lot. Took the free 15 bus a few times each day. And took the 1 bus back and forth to Busch gardens on 2 days. Both days we were not the only person to use the Busch gardens bus stop. Every bus was clean and perfectly in schedule. Amtrak was on time both directions. We will probably go back this summer to use our Busch gardens fun cards again. Will probably drive to allow visits to Jamestown and some other places. To be honest though we may still bus to Busch gardens to avoid paying the exorbitant parking fee. Will need to see if a different bus will get us to water country. |
| Kingsmill Resort I believe has a shuttle to BG. It’s a nice hotel. There’s an onsite mediocre restaurant. The CW area has a few restaurants in walking distance, but not that area is very dark at night (guess they didn’t have electricity during colonial times). I think it’s doable wherever you stay. The Jamestown areas would be harder to access. |
