| I have read the studies saying 200 mg a day is fine for pregnancy, but for TTC, does anyone think it made a difference? I gave up coffee and now just have black tea, but I don't know if giving up the tea would make a difference. TIA. |
| It doesn't make a difference for TTC. |
| Just cut back to what you would feel comfortable consuming while pregnant so you don't have to deal with caffeine headaches and morning sickness together. |
| All of my different pregnancies took anywhere between 2 and 5 months to happen. Nothing changed any of those times so I don't think it makes a difference, at least not for me. |
| I gave us frequent soda once I got pregnant but I wasn't about to do that for months and months while I was TTC. Unless you drink way more than the norm, I wouldn't worry about that. Worry about the things that can get you pregnant. Temping, possibly OPKs if they work for you (never worked for me), frequent sex during fertile period. |
| Nope. I went cold turkey on diet coke, no difference whatsoever, still can't conceive naturally after 8 months of trying. |

I gave up caffeine when reading TCOYF, which suggests that caffeine intake may interfere with conception.
That month I got pregnant. That month I also started temping (more on this in a sec) and using preseed, but inserting with an applicator and using as lube. We stopped oral sex for me (because saliva can kill sperm) and using traditional lube (which can also kill sperm). I had already been using OPK's. More on temping if you're interested -- Temping turned out to be important because temperature indicated I did not ovulate the first time I got a positive on the kit. I ended up ovulated after when I would have expected my period. I'm really glad I was temping because 1, I would have stopped using the OPK and assumed I had ovulated when I hadn't. 2, I would have taken a pregnancy test when I expected my period and been confused when it was negative and I still didn't get my period. 3, I would have been very concerned when things weren't going the way they should with the baby based on last menstrual period (like, for example, when they couldn't find a heartbeat with doppler, which they should have been able to do based on LMP dating, but was too soon based on actual ovulation dating). |
It was probably the pre-seed that did it. I swear by that stuff! |
|
I don't think it would make any difference with just tea. If you were drinking large amounts of coffee daily, then it might affect TTC (can't remember where but think I read a study on this).
Sounds like you're doing just fine! Keep it up! (For me, giving up coffee was hard, so I'm happy I did it now instead of after I get pregnant -- if/when that ever happens!) |
| 13:42 again. I forgot to say that I also added b vitamins and cites berry to stretch out a short (10-11 day) luteal phase. So many variables! |
| Cites berry, not cites berry |
| Omg, auto correct! Vitex berry! |
| I say what helps is consuming a lot of dairy. Full fat milk. This has worked for many people I know. |

Actually studies show that caffeine cause the Fallopian tubes to spasm. So if you really can't give it up, at least stop immediately prior to Ovulation and the week after.

| You know - what does or doesn't work is so often totally up for debate or dependent on your own body. The best thing to do? Eat as healthy as possible, get your rest and try not to stress. Given that my first was multiple rounds of IVF and #2 and #3 were natural - I think stress is a big factor. Then again - some doctors just say everything works better after you've been pregnant. |
