| I'd like to send my mother a plant for her birthday (not cut flowers). Which sites do you suggest? Don't want to spend a lot but would like a decent looking, long lasting plant she can enjoy. Also would prefer not to pay a high shipping/delivery fee. |
| I think your best bet is to call the local inexpensive florist (here in California it would be Conroy's) and ask them what plants they have in stock and for what price and have them deliver it. You can easily yelp florists now in your mother's zip code area and cross-shop for deals. Pick a few and ask what their delivery fees are. I often ask for a few flowers in vials of water to be added so the arrangement looks like both a floral one and then a nice houseplant after. |
+1 I always call the local florist in the city where I am having flowers delivered. The delivery is much cheaper and you can ask over the phone what the best flowers or plants are that they have in stock. |
| If she likes a specific type of houseplant ... sansiveria, african violets, succelents & cacti, etc... you can go on the respective plant society website(s) to get references and recommendations. |
