I used to watched ABC news everyday at 6:30 pm.
Since they have a new anchor, David Muir, I watched less and less. ABC news has promoted David Muir with his (or ABC) program "Made in America" in order to make him suitable for such position, however, I have to say this program proved nothing but both Muir and ABC do not understand what is GLOBAL ECONOMY or CAPITALISM. They either don't understand or pretend not understand it is American company CEOs' and shareholders' decision to move the jobs abroad, and most important, the largest profit goes to american CEOs and shareholders probably include someone from ABC news and/or David Muir himself. For example, iPhone is assemblies in China (parts are made across the world), but the profit for China/its company is less than $10, at the same time, most profit (>$100) goes to Apple/its shareholders. This "Made in America" program is nothing but another advertisement for small us companies trying to survive the hard economy. Keep in mind, even some of them claim the cost would be competitive with others in Mexican, or Asian, the final selling price will be different story. Another thing is: if most of things are made in US, how many people would afford? Certainly it is not an issue for David Muir or his bosses. A few weeks back, on Scotland voting day for independence, ABC news did not even mention the result at all, while the whole world worried and cared. This demonstrated ABC news and David Muir's personal attitude towards world events. |
David Muir's hair drives me nuts. It DOESN'T move. My husband does a very funny imitation of his voice introducing "Ginger Zee"!
I don't think David Muir decides on the news stories, though. Although I often wonder if he's embarrassed to report them since they are usually so superficial and stupid. |
| ABC news has gotten too soft for my taste - it's 50% news and 50% soft subjects/entertainment. I too watch less and less. I miss Peter Jenning. |
He seems to lack experience and gravitas. He comes across as a young host of a program now built around cute animal stories and 'news you can use." It's not the ABC News of HK Smith, David Brinkley and Peter Jennings. |
I think you're being kind on the 50% news. CBS seems now to have the best serious news program (aside from the PBS News Hour) and they've really rebuilt their reporting bench. |
PP here - yes, I probably was with 50%... I watch NBC now days. It's not too bad compare to ABC. I haven't watched CBS but maybe give it a try. |
| I really hate his "Made in America"reportis... I just don't think it belongs in evening news. |
| Why is this in the jobs forum? |
OP is after Muir's job |
| I've been turning it on while I make dinner. I kind of liked Diane Sawyer. I'm neutral on David Muir, but there's too much weather news. Yes, it's always going to be storming somewhere. Not enough international news. And I hate how they have some shouting chorus say "Let's see" before every story starts. I will give CBS a try. |

Looks like they are promoting Ginger as well, or Davis Muir is promoting her, given she is on news almost every other night. |
| David Muir is not allowed on in my house. Sick of ABC trashing half the country everyday. All they do is trash PRESIDENT TRUMP and promote democrat lies. David Muir is no journalist, just an overpaid entertainer. TURN OFF ABC |
| Entertainment Tonight! Not news. |
