What's the Worst that Could Happen if I Bought My Wife Gym Membership?

Anonymous
she's sensitive and very self conscious about it but for the sake of her own good and our family i firmly believe it's time she works out and be healthy.

i think the worst is she just doesn't go so a waste of money.

thoughts, ladies?

Hehehehehe. Sure that's the worst that can happen.

Try it and let us know it goes.

You will be killed. I promise. Just don't do it.

Are you ready for five hours of her screaming and crying that you think she's fat and don't love her anymore? And are you prepared for her to bring this up yearly for a decade? That's not even the worst that could happen!

Go work out with her!

With a personal trainer.

Sign up for something that you can do together, so it's not about you telling her she needs to work out, it's about both of you making a healthy and positive change TOGETHER.

Also, this better not be my DH.

OP, just start going yourself. Once she sees you doing it, maybe she'll get curious and ask about it.

The best way to influence is to set an example.

No, the BEST is she just doesn't go and it's a waste of money. The WORST is...the possibilities are endless. Don't do it!

Agreed. There are 100 better ways to do this. Invite her to attend a Zumba class with you. Family bike ride. Etc.

What strange responses. I wouldn't mind a gym membership from my husband at all! He wouldn't mind one from me either. Right now we bike a little and lift weights at home, but it's not full service like a gym. Everyone needs to work out for health reasons, even the visually slim people, so why get all bothered?

But... tread carefully OP, if your wife is at all like the PPs above!

I don't understand this post.

Are you in awesome shape? Are you getting to the gym on the regular?

If yes, why aren't you switching off time at the gym so she can go to?

If no, then STFU with your judgment and get a double gym membership.

As the PPs say, if my husband said "hey let's do to the gym together, it'll be fun and we can get in shape" I would be fine with that. Just handing ME a membership essentially saying "Go lose weight while I sit on my ass at home" is just tacky.
