Flea and tic collar- Bayer Soresto

Anonymous
Has anyone used this? It is supposed to last 8 months. Have read incredible reviews and ones that scared me-dogs having seizures, vomiting, etc. Of course I have read complaints about every flea and tic preventative treatment. Please share your own experiences and what you have heard from friends, vets, etc. TIA!

bumpity bump. Anyone out there ever use this collar or know someone who did?

Flea and tick collars are obsolete. They never worked to begin with. They kept insects off the dog's neck, that is all. And with the advent of Frontline, they became totally unnecessary.

Why are you not using Frontline, OP?

Our vet just recommended the Soresto collar to us over lyme vaccine + Frontline. It is the one collar that has been found to be effective.

We were really bad about applying the Frontline b/c I really didn't want that oily goo getting on our rugs or furniture (dogs aren't allowed ON the furniture, but the lean against it when sleeping).

The collars have only been on for about two weeks now, so I can't vouch for them.

Frontline is not bad, really. YOu only apply it in one location and it dries up after a day or two.

I've never experienced "oily goo" with Frontline. You part the dog's hair and put it on the skin. That's what you are supposed to do.

The Seresto collar is not the same as the old Hartz flea collar that is sold in the grocery store. Ignore 5:44 and 8:36, they don't know what they are talking about.

Seresto does work great, but it takes about 2 weeks of constant wear before it is 100% effective. Frontline is not as effective as it used to be against fleas and ticks, which anyone who spends a lot of time with their dogs in heavily tick-infested areas can tell you.

Here's my cred- I am a gun dog trainer who spends nearly every day in open fields with high cover. Ticks galore. Seresto, Scalibor, Preventic, or NexGard are your best bets for serious tick protection. The Lyme vaccine is practically useless, too.

Does the Soresto really last 8 months? If so, it is cheaper than Frontline, right?
