just bought mini crib mattress for dog bed

I dont know why I didnt think of this sooner. New waterproof mini crib mattress from ebay (sealed) for $24.99 delivered.

This after spending $340 on a new dogbed from petco with an indoor/outdoor cover. Cats peed on it within 24 hours. They have never done this before. The inside pillow is not washable.

This has been the problem with EVERY dog bed Ive ever bought. The cover doesnt do you much good if things soak through it and the inside cant be washed. Even dogbeds claiming to be washable have not ever been such in practical terms.

So this might be just the thing. Covers can be washed or thrown away, but at least the MAIN COMPONENT can be wiped clean

OP here- I meant $40 not $340! LOL!!! No, I did not buy a $340 dog bed. Im surprised noone called me out on that one!!!!

I also use a waterproof crib mattress for my doggie's bed. So quick and easy to wash the sheet when it gets soiled, and crib sheets are inexpensive enough that you can buy multiple ones in colors that match your decor.

I wonder if the mattress is cooler than a real dog bed? They all feel so hot to me. My dog usually sleeps on the linoleum floor instead of his bed. I've been looking for something soft and cool.

OP here- I will post results when it arrives. Ive observed that too about the dog sleeping on the floor. My dog is older, though, and I think she has some arthritis discomfort and when the petmart bed was shown to her she jumped on it right away and luxuriated in the puffiness.

However, I am hoping the crib mattress provides more even support and with cool crisp sheets on it it may be just the thing for summer!

My dog wouldn't sleep on our crib mattress. I assume because it's much harder than her other beds.

Since this is a mini crib mattress, it does not have springs (I dont think) so I am hoping it will be squishier than a standard mattress.
