Lactation Consultant covered by insurance?

I saw a LC a few times when my son was born to work out some breastfeeding issues. I submitted a claim to my insurance company (Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield) and I am waiting to see if it will be covered. Has anybody had any luck getting a LC covered by insurance?

Mine was covered but I saw a nurse at the Ped. office so I think they billed it as a feeding issue w/ my DC. I paid only the regular co-pay office visit. Same insurance as you.

I think it is covered -- change due to Affordable Care Act. Call your provider and ask.

Thanks! My son legitimately had a feeding issue- he had a tongue tie that needed to be fixed. The LC identified the tongue tie and we got it corrected.

I couldn't get it covered by BCBS, but I don't have Anthem, I have it through another state.
