Experience using Wellbutrin while TTC/pregnant?

Anonymous
I had been taking Wellbutrin XL 150mg for the last 4 years. I asked my Dr. whether it was safe to use while trying to get pregnant and he said he didn't have an opinion either way. I did end up getting pregnant and stopped taking it at 3.5 weeks as soon as I found out but then no HB at 7week ultrasound. So I'm not sure if it was built up in my system enough to cause a problem or if it was coincidence. I still haven't gone back on it while TTC again and I am having a really difficult time coping without it and my sex drive has gone to zero. I'm considering going back on it.

Anyone else take it during pregnancy and everything turn out ok/not ok?

There was another thread on this a few weeks ago. My psychiatrist switched me from Wellbutrin to Zoloft before I started IVF because Zoloft is thought to be safer...

I took wellbutrin XL 300mg the whole time. Baby is 6mo now and there were no problems ttc or with the pregnancy or since.

What kind of doctor doesn't have "an opinion one way or another" regarding taking a medication while ttc/pregnant? I would change doctors.

Zoloft is only thought to be safer because more people have taken it while pregnant.

One who has not seen anything bad happen, but would not want to make promises outside their expertise.

+1 It isn't that zoloft is not necessarily "safer"; it's that they have the most long-term information on it.

If it makes you feel better, i went to a well regarded practice and they were shocked my doctor had me on zoloft 50mg even though they knew I was TTC because the practice recommends wellbutrin and prozac. WTF.
