| I'm just wondering how important an MPH is to get a Public Health Analyst position in the government. I have a Bachelors in Public Health and I'm curious if that's enough or do I need to get an MPH? |
| You need a masters of some sort. Doesnt have to be MPH but that does seem to be the most common for that particular title. Public administration, public policy, or other health degree are others that I've seen. |
| Agree with above PP. DH is an analyst and has a Masters in Policy. He's worked with people who have healthcare backgrounds (ie nurses) who then got Masters degrees in something else (health administration). Some people have PhDs. Can't think of anyone who has only a bachelors. |
| Thanks for the advice. Any advice on what positions in the government I would be qualified for with a Bachelors in Public Health? |
| Yes the governement is the only place these masters are worth anything |
The government and thousands of hospitals, domestic non-profits, and international development organizations, you jackass. |
I don't know why I'm even responding to such ridiculousness, but I have one of these masters, work hard but work very normal hours, and am compensated well. Not in a government job. |
| Does it get you the better job in govt, or can you not get the job without it? |
| OP, I had a job at the FDA with a Bachelors in Public Health as a Consumer Safety Officer if that helps at all. I got my MPH and ended up as a government contractor as a Public Health Analyst. |
