Curry School of Education Summer Enrichment Program for Gifted and/or High Ability Students

Does anyone have any experience with this summer residential program?

My dd has attended, but she was bored to death by the class she was assigned to.

Unlike CTY, you can't really pick your class. You can only rank your selections...so a kid who loves science and wants to take a Neuroscience course can get stuck with a course about art or civil war history.

The way they rank kids in the application process is also really strange. They assess the applications and rank the kids from #1-whatever. The kids are assigned to their choice of course and session by that rank. They even assign the afternoon courses that are chosen later by rank. So if your kid's application isn't ranked highly that year, they won't get into anything they want and they'll be left feeling like they're not so smart after all.

OP here ... thanks so much for the helpful feedback. It definitely wasn't clear from the website how children were placed in the classes and some would definitely not have been my DD's first choice.
