| If your child is in AAP , what was his/her DRA score from the fall in ther kindergarten year ( the score out of 193). Just curious. I know it doesn't mean much but just wondering. I thought my child scored lower than what I expected although it was still higher than the end of year benchmark. |
| 192. |
| 193. She was a really advanced reader at that age though. It is pretty irrelevant to third grade. |
| 192 |
| 549 |
| 177 |
| 193 |
| For any child that can read anything at all, the test is extremely easy and basically shows nothing. This is why Arlington uses the actual DRA for advanced readers, not the DRA word analysis. |
| My kid got 193 and is not a very reader nor is he on the AAP track. DRA score means nothing related to giftedness |
| My son is in K grade and he got 185 I think, what are the next steps, do you give them cogat or nnat now? |
Huh? |
He can do some analogies, reading comprehension, love patterns in nnat app in ipad. Maybe go back to reading I think. |
| My child got in and he has always been below grade level on reading. He has a reading disability. |
Hi, the schools gives the kids the CogaT in 2nd and the NNAT in 1st. DRA has little to do with AAP. However many kids with high verbal are tested at the beginning DRA for the following year at their last DRA test for the school year. Some schools test beyond that. Just remember that reading is a skill not the same intelligence as math ability. |

Early reading is not a reliable indicator of anything but early reading. Many perfectly average (or below) children read early and many insanely smart children read late.
Look for instead for great vocabulary, amazing comprehension, complex sentence structure when speaking.......... |
