Is it possible to get a security clearance for a naturalized citizen?

It's a condition for a job offer I received. I have a dual citizenship right now but am naturalized U.S. citizen.

Depends which agency. Dual citizenship may be a problem.

depends on the clearance, program (agency) for which you are working for/on, on the country you have dual citizenship with, and if your immediate family members are not us citizens.

regarding your dual citizenship, they will look to see if you have exercised the rights of your other citizenship often or how recently.

Being a naturalized citizen generally doesn't present major problems (your ties to the country including family is what will be scrutinized), but being a dual citizen does. You will be in for a long process and will most likely have to go through DOHA (if your agency uses DOD to adjudicate the clearance. Most agencies do, but some like State, DHS, CIA have their own programs). If your clearance goes to DOHA you'll have very limited timeframes to respond to their questions and you would be well advised to have a lawyer help you navigate this if your job is dependent on making it through the process and obtaining a clearance.

It is possible if there is nothing too colorful in your background/current ties to the country of origin, just takes longer. Dual citizenship is not allowed for certain agencies.

You will likely be asked if you are willing to give up the other citizenship, but won't be required to. However, using your other citizenship (traveling with that passport, for example) may be evidence that you are not willing to give it up, despite what you say.

I do use my other passport for traveling. The agency is DOD.

That will be a big problem. That means you can go anywhere anytime. I will be shocked if you get a clearance.

You will have to surrender your foreign passport and will not be able to renew it while you have your clearance, but it is possible to get a DOD clearance with dual citizenship - I have one. It wasn't that painful either, and it didn't take any longer than anyone else's I know. Granted, my other citizenship is with a very benign country, so YMMV.
