Moving to Vienna... Looking for a Vet and Dog Boarding

Anonymous
Moving from Illinois to Vienna, VA... in search for a reputable and caring vet for our Golden Doodle... I know at times there are practices to avoid.

Also in search for a Dog Boarding, similar to Camp Bow Wow Franchise, which is a dog day care and boarding. Dogs are screened before staying... they have indoor/outdoor play areas, and are not confined to cages all day.

Any help would be appreciated!

Be aware that there's a killer (literally) dog flu raging in our area right now. You probably don't want to put your pet in an environment like that until it subsides.

Depending on where you are in Vienna, Great Falls may not be too far for you. Seneca Hill Animal Hospital and Pet Resort has a very nice facility with doggie day care and boarding. Prices are steep, but your dog will be well cared for there. I and lots of my friends board there.

Oakton-Vienna Veterinary Hospital off of Maple Ave in Vienna is a great facility with wonderful people. I have been taking my dog there for a few years now and am very pleased. Prior to just getting my dog I researched the area thoroughly and Oakton-Vienna Hosp. became the obvious choice. For doggie daycare and crate-less boarding, I love Affectionate Pet on Pickett in Fairfax.
Welcome to the area !

We like Hunter Mill Animal Hospital right across Chain Bridge Road from the Oakton Giant. They don't have a website (yes, the owner is old-school that way), but they have caring staff. Welcome!

We live in Vienna and take our mutt to Vienna Animal Hospital. Very happy with them.

We have boarded at Dogtopia daycare in Tysons Corner (nearby) and Woofs daycare in Arlington (less close). Both are indoors only, but cageless during the day; they crate or kennel at night and someone is onsite at night, which I like for safety. Of the two, I slightly prefer the staff at Woofs. We also board at the Dulles Gateway Pet Retreat, a traditional caged kennel that has a vet's office onsite, and have been happy with their "pampered puppy program" of outdoor walks and playtime.

I am not aware of a nearby place that does cageless indoor/outdoor boarding, but maybe further west, like in Leesburg, you may find something with an outdoor space.

We go to Pender Vet in Fairfax for our standard poodle, the drs have been excellent, and I like that they are an emergency hospital as well. They do seem expensive is my only concern with them. We keep going because the care is so good. They saved my poodle's life when he had bloat and stomach rotation.

For boarding, we go to Seneca Hill Animal Hospital and Pet Resort in Great Falls. They have been great too. We went to Pender Pet retreat in Dulles and paid for the pampered puppy program, but we weren't happy with it. When my dog came home, he howled all night afterward and got sick. I am sure part of this was my fault because it was the first time we had ever boarded, so I didn't bring his food. I am sure his stomach got upset from their food, but the fact that it took a couple of days for him to stop barking and howling. I felt like he picked that up at the kennel.
