I've always wondered how often men/dads post on DCUrbanMom?
In other words, what percent of the forum posters would you imagine are men? |
| DH here: I would guess 15-20% of the posts are from men. I only identify as a man when it seems germane to the discussion at hand. (Except for the explicit board, where I think it is more like 95% men. lol) |
| i think it is higher than 20. 35% is my guess. |
| Another DH. It does seem to be about 15-20% of posters who self-identify as men. So the number would be higher as many of us do not specify gender unless it is germane to the subject. So, I would put it between 1/4 and 1/3 of the posters. |
| I think some people who say they are "DH" are actually "DW" and don't want to sound super witchy so they act like they're a guy writing. |

I read more than I post, but don't read here daily. Maybe a couple of times a week? It ebbs and flows.

I post in several threads a day. I would imagine the men make up less than 30%. Sometimes I'll announce myself as a guy, but usually I just skip it. I've posted a ton of questions and it always sucks when people assume I'm a woman.
Responses like, "You need to get your husband to chip in" sometimes tangent into conversations about how lazy men are or how men don't understand what moms go through. By then it's too awkward to jump in and say "Guess what!" |
| Depends on the thread. |
I've posted a fair bit (more answers than questions) and I agree it sucks when people assume you are a woman. I would guess men are somewhere between 20-40%. I bet Jeff has some "data" on it-- those internet advertising companies have ways of guessing your gender, income etc. |
It's DCUrbanMoms and Dads... Men are explicitly welcome here and make up a sizable portion of the posting population. This is not a womanspace. |
|
For a long time I assumed that the really nasty posts had to come from men, but I finally reallized that was my old-fashioned "sugar and spice" pejudice. It's actually comforting to me that I have been forced to at least try to stop making such assumptions.
Although I can't say what percentage of posters are guys, I can say that this one posts fairly frequently on this forum, and on Politics and Religion. |

I don't. I'm extrapolating. |
