St. Ann Church Arlington, VA

Anonymous
The Bishop of the Archdiocese of Arlington has turned over the administration of St. Ann Church in Arlington to The Missionhurst Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary effective June 26. Does anyone know what this really means, will the church will change in some way and might there be an impact on the parish school? I'm not a parishioner myself, just wondering since I am interested in the school for my DD.

We are parishoners and heard Fr. Greenhalgh read the Bishop's letter yesterday. We are stunned and saddened as we love Fr. Greenhalgh but hope he enjoys a well-deserved retirement.

Any change in church leadership is bound to impact the church. Fr. Lino is the associate pastor and he is also being reassigned, so St. Ann will have a complete turnover in priests. Three are inbound, all foreign-born -- Congo, Philippines and Dominican Republic.

Personally, I think the priests and especially the pastor play a huge role in the tone of a parish. We are hopeful that they will be as friendly and welcoming as Fr. Greenhalgh. I don't know anything about the Missionhurst order, but it's on my to-do list to read more about it as it may give us a clue about what to expect.

Short answer - don't have a clue, but anxious as you are.
