If she did not have another job lined up, I would pay the full amount (just the hourly rate, not any tip over and above hourly).
Since she is going to be watching your niece, then I would go with $100. |
| I would pay her the full amount and you can be darn sure she would want to work with you again. She will remember your generosity for a long time and that is a good thing. She has the option to say no that's too much. |
^^ Just saw she has another gig so she will end up in a better position. Everyone wins! |
| No need to give her $100 if you also got her a new gig! |
| Full amount. She booked her night for you, and now can’t get another gig. |
Good solution, hope your kids are better and thank you for not cheating out on a babysitter. |
| That’s a big deal. I’m scheduled tonight and counting on $40/hr plus tip. If someone cancelled on me it would be really upsetting because I get booked months in advance over the holidays and really count on that money. |
Nanny here- This is perfect!!! Thanks for being awesome! |
| You were getting off super cheap at $140, I think. I would Venmo at least $100 and apologize profusely. |
Did you even bother to read OP's update? |
Just curious if you tell the parents you are charging $40/hr? The OPwas only paying$20/hr which is standard rate. |
| Full amount. It’s not her fault and she has forgone other opportunities to earn good money tonight. |
| It's New Years Eve, you have to pay for lost opportunities on a day like this. Pay her the minimum that you would have paid if you used her. |
Agree! This was a thoughtful way to handle the situation. Best of luck staying well and kids improving quickly. |
Snort. If you'd given her only $50, there would have been no next time. Glad to see you are doing right by her. |
