Do you like to give advice? Help me pick a used compact SUV!

You can get a new RAV for just a few thousand more than this. I got a 2018 for about that out the door (I think prices have gone up though).

Look at the HRV. You can get a new one for a little over 20k last time I looked.

OP here and please remember I know nothing about cars. I love the look of the Tiguan, but are VWs pretty reliable? Pretty easy to find a mechanic for? I've only ever owned Japanese cars.

NO. Loved our VWs but they were frequently in the shop

I'm one of the PP's upthread suggesting a RAV or CRV, but this is the correct answer. I didn't even think of this but "I love my CRV might want something a touch smaller" is why they started making HRVs unless I'm mistaken.

This is ridiculous. You could have gotten a brand new one for not much more.

Nope, this was the top of the line one with all the extras I wanted. Couldn’t get that new for even close to $23,000

I'm the PP who got a new 2017 for $24.5 - it was an XLE Hybrid. You did not get a good deal.

We LOVE our 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport.

Exactly, and they’re really nice inside. I almost bought one but went with the RAV (I wanted the extra cargo space and the RAV is just like driving a sedan IMO).
