| to OP - This may be very "un-DC", being "99%" allowed me to pursue a career before kids typically dominated by those with multiple high degrees and get to top of the field without multiple degrees - because of ability to self-teach, think strategically, and innovate. With kids, allows me to work very part-time that often my kids don't think I work, but can make a great living equivalent to more than full-time. So feel very fortunate. agree with pp - genes can bring other issues - such as health challenges - that one has to work harder in other areas than other folks. |

We are both 99% parents, with two 99% kids.
Since there is a genetic component to IQ, it shouldn't be terribly surprising that there are so many 99/99 parents with one or more 99 kids, right? |
| You know what? This is a stupid question. |
| Not to worry folks, mental acuity starts heading downhill once you hit 40. |
Same here. |
| Is the slacker usually the wife? (Yes, in our family.) Was it predictable that this would be case before kids came along? (Yes, again.) |

To answer op- yes, my husband and I both scored 99% on tests as children but they weren't the WPPSI so not sure if that counts? To answer your other questions....Yes, we are happy and yes, we are rich, yes we are successful. Both have higher degrees of education (who doesn't in dc)? I am a SAHM. We never prepped our kid for the test. Our child is a normal kid and at a Big 3 and happy there.
How much ($$) does your family give to your kid's school? |
| You've got to get that chip off your shoulder. Try asking yourself this: What would Bill Bradley do? |
