Looking for a small 3d row SUV (cramped is fine!)

+1 with love for the LandRover. It may not last forever, but it's EXACTLY what I want right now, and my needs - like yours - are pretty specific.

We have a Volvo XC-90, and love it. We live in Europe, so needed a smaller SUV that would fit into tiny European garages. When the third row is up, it is a bit cramped, but it works great for our family of 5 (and fits a set of grandparents when they visit from the space). We got a Thule roof box, which works great when we need more storage space.

PP: "space" = "States". LOL.

I have a Dodge Durango and love it. It has just the right amount of room and a fair amount of get-up-and-go.

This is OP. Just wanted to update this in case anyone searches for these types of cars in the future. We test drove the Tiguan and the Sorento and ended up buying a 2019 Sorento. Thanks again for all the suggestions!

Trying to make the same decision (two young kids, frequent family visitors). Based on the reviews, I had nearly settled for the Pilot, but there's a chance we may be moving overseas (Europe), and I'm nervous it'll be huge there. Other contenders are the Highlander and Sorento. Has anyone made this decision with an overseas move in mind?

Our current small SUV is fine for us, but when family comes to visit we find ourselves wishing we could transport more than 3 adults at a time (overweight gparents--can't fit two adults in the back row remotely comfortably with a kid in a carseat, even if I or DH sits in the middle).

We're thinking of getting a third row just to avoid all the hassle of figuring out transport when family is in town (they do not drive). But we don't want a huuuuge SUV. Any recs for one with a foldable third row that isn't massive? I don't need it to be comfortable for adults. DH can squeeze there when needed until DC is old enough to sit back there.

I don't need a new car either, but 2015 or later preferred. Right now I'm looking at Sorrento & Highlander because they seem to be the shortest--trying to stay close to 190". Current car is 185".

I love my Sorrento - switched from a Highlander, and I find the Sorrento much easier to drive and park. It feels more maneuverable in parking garages, and I haven't really missed the additional space.

Lexus gx 460. the 3rd row goes down if you dont need it. mine is 2013 model. love it, but gas mileage is so-so and takes premium gas. but, the 5 years I've owned it, no issues.

I have a highlander and love it. We only use the third row when transporting extra kids or when grandparents are in town and kids sit in the way back.
