The lime juice helps along with keeping the pit in the bowl. May not work for a lunch, but will help keep the leftovers fresh too.

In terms of labels, we bought waterproof labels at Staples (I think) that are that Avery brand that you print from your computer...put them on bottles, etc....lasted through many many dishwasher cycles....

For the cheapest lablels: blue painter's tape with a sharpie. Will stay on through the dishwasher.
