Would You Pay Someone To Plan Your Childs Birthday Party

Anonymous
Not to be a downer but here are my thoughts:

- Most people wealthy enough to have a large enough party for you to make any money off of this probably already have an event planner on their payroll.

- You don't make much money doing small parties, infrequently. And you do a lot of work. And specializing in niche events like this is limiting. You may want to consider going the event planner route, unless you're truly doing it for fun and not for money.

I got something like this done last year. I paid her about $500. I had to buy all the cake, entertainment, paper supplies, etc. separately. That was for her time to help me plan.

Seriously? I'm not above paying for things as a general rule but - come on. My son's second birthday is coming up. I looked on Pinterest for the theme I wanted, ordered stuff from a site linked there, hired an entertainer, and will get some coloring books for favors, order a cake and simple food, and set up the morning of with my MIL. I sort of feel like I'm overdoing it or a toddler party and the whole thing will take me less than 6 hours total. And cost less than $500 (space, entertainment, supplies and food). I honestly can't imagine what you'd pay someone $500 for. Even if they sent the invites you'd still have to compile the list and addresses. Guess there are rich suckers out there..

Hm. Maybe. This is what I might pay for:

1. Consulting advice over email, with schedule, list of games, etc.

2. List of outside venues and/or entertainers that have been vetted as excellent and well-priced.

For this I might pay around $100.

Wedding, yes. Bday party, no.

I thought I got a bargain for $500. I got quotes from other people in the thousands.

1st bday and 2nd bday are different. We also had his bday party at a kiddie place and probably spent about $500-600 total.

I love planning themed first birthday parties and am the family go to for any party planning be it first birthdays, cookie exchanges etc. I was wondering if moms would pay for this type of service.

Best,

Future Party Planner?

Not a chance.

Sure. Only if I could lie and tell everyone I did it all myself.

I would hire someone to do this if it also included the party assistant services PPs described above. I am going to be 8 1/2 months pregnant when my DC has his birthday in early July this year. I want to give him a simple party in our backyard but I want it to be as EASY as possible for me. I would pay to have someone else handle everything this year. Food, crafts/games, invitations, goodie bags and setting it all up (DH can do the clean up but not much else). So please post here again if you're up and running by June/July! Or I could be your guinea pig...

Ordinarily, I wouldn't use a service like this because I like doing this stuff myself, but this year is different.

I would pay for #2 - maybe $50 for an online list of every party place/meeting space possible.

I work FT, but love planning parties and like to be original, so I would never hire anyone to do the whole thing for me - in fact, if I was super busy at work, or couldn't muster up the energy to do the pirate-ship theme, I would outsource to a place like kidville or my gym instead of hiring a party planner.

No, but that's just because I don't have the kind of big bday parties you're talking about.

I agree that if people are willing to pay for birthday parties at various venues, you would probably have a market for what you're offering-- ESP. if you do clean-up, too. Or only if you do clean-up, too.

There are people who buy prepsred jello and dyed Easter eggs, so thete are likely those who will pay for a party planner for kid's birthday party.
Anonymous
Probably, but I would want it to be all inclusive, including cake, favors, food, etc. I wouldn't want to pay the price for all that most likely. What's the price range OP?
