Recommend Hardy-feeding elementary for family new (again) to DC

Hardy Principal seems some combination of clueless and willfully clueless. He and AP seem to feel like the relatively well off families are Karen’s who either will vent and then give up or leave - and that if kids aren’t failing (like actually failing) they are fine. The issues with the athletic director and the girls soccer coach smoking up etc were pathetic and mismanaged with the students and parents. And the ignoring the fights and locking bathrooms to avoid dealing with the “skippers” who hang out in them and May or may not graffiti them up then is also ludicrous and unsafe. My kid thinks the infraction things are really a joke and no one follows through on them - and the admin has given up on the dress code (which seems silly at this point to worry about enforcing what color pants you wear vs stopping or preventing fights.) and there’s a petition the kids are trying to do to eliminate the dress code and we’re told if they get 250 signatures that will happen. All that said, think my kid is actually doing pretty fine and learning on the academic side. Has at least 2/3 of teachers who seem either good to really good. And the smaller environment for a public does have a nice community vibe.

I agree with much of this. Most of the teachers are good, and most of the students are nice people and good students. The principal is ineffective, and maybe it is because he has no respect for the students and their families.
