I'm a 54-year-old woman and have a medium amount of grey in my hair. Would it help my chances in interviews if I dye my hair, wear a low-cut shirt, and get Botox treatments? I'm an editor with lots of experience in book publishing, magazines, and wire services.

Not sure if this is a real post or troll, but if it's real, I'd say dying your hair may be something to consider. No to low cut shirt (IMO not professional at any age). Cannot say about the Botox -- depends on how many wrinkles you have and whether you have the money for that.
Good luck with the job search. This is a tough time to be in journalism and publishing. |

Sure and offer blow jobs, troll.
If you are well-groomed then you are fine. |
| If this is real, I'd go with the hair coloring and skip the low cut shirt and botox. I think botox makes a lot of people look like old people with botox, not that you'd fool anyone into thinking you are young again. |

Thanks for the advice. Some of you out there are quite harsh...why attack someone for asking a simple, legitimate question? This section of DCUM is a message board for people 50 and up.

| I'm a headhunter -- you should certainly dye your hair and get the best outfit you can afford...nothing low cut. Make sure the clothes fit and wear nice shoes. Good luck. |
| Dye your hair. Have it blown out for the interview (really helps with the polished look) Many, many, many people Botox or use fillers -- they are not all so obvious as the awful look you see sometimes. Took 15 years off for me (filler) Just looks like I had a nice vacation. Take care that it is done by a Doctor. Low cut, no. I agree about the shoes, and when you are older there seems to be an expectation that your clothes are more expensive. Works for me. My stylist thinks it is very funny when I come in for my blowouts---another important meeting? You can mess it up a bit if that is too trying to hard for you, but I have noticed that many women have excellent hair around DC. Good luck! |
| Yes, yes, and yes! |
Because the low cut shirt reference was ridiculous and we are all old enough to know it. |
| Maybe OP was joking about the low cut shirt? |
Let's hope so. |
