Affordable raincoats for elementary-school age?

School discourages umbrellas. Today the kids got soaked. Where do you find nice raincoats/slickers (and boots?)?

Thanks!

Costco has some for 16 or 17 bucks. Not sure if they are still there. Carters has some in the 30-40 range.

We have never been disappointed in Lands End rainwear, and they have occasional good sales.

I got Kamik rubber boots (sp?) on Amazon for $20 (sign up for their shoe emails and get 20% off).

Raincoat = $15 from Gap on sale.

But I agree that the rain gear is totally overpriced. Drove me nuts.

The cheapest way is getting a rain poncho from REI:

$3.50 and the go right over top of whatever else you normally wear.

Who gives a crap if the school "discourages" umbrellas?

Those who value their children's eyes.

I have picked up a bunch from posting on our community listserve.
I have also purchased on ebay. Tip for this is to look off season. Looking for a new rain jacket in Dec is uncommon on the East Coast.

For rainboots - LandsEnd and online sales. I have picked up a pair of Bogs from REI outlet for less than $20. These will be handed down to 3 kids which makes them worth every penny. (My 2 sons and a nephew - at least)
