What are the regulations for adding a fence around the backyard in Arlington? The backyard is not visible from the street, but it connects to two other backyards from the neighbors.

Generally speaking, how does the process work? Does a permit ever get denied?

Sure. Sometimes there are variances.

You'll have to pay a surveyor and then build the fence a good foot and a half in from your property line.

I am not sure about this, but I am not sure a fence requires a permit. We installed one in north arl without a permit and on the property line exactly.

are you putting the fence in yourself or hiring a company to do it? A company will tell you everything you need to know: whether your plan for your fence is allowed, what form to take where, how much $$ to take, and they will arrange a surveyor.
