Are my sons too old to learn to play hockey?

We have exposed our sons (both young teenagers) to just about every team and individual sport imaginable, except ice hockey. They took ice skating lessons when they were about 5 and that is it. Now, of course, they are rabid Caps fans and wish they could play hockey. Is there any place where teenagers can learn to skate and play the game and not be with little kids? I have looked on the websites of a couple of area rinks (we are in NOVA), and everything appears to be geared toward the younger set. Obviously the goal would just be to learn the game and play recreationally -- nothing competitive. Thanks for any advice!

Cabin John Rec Center near Monky mall has a league.

When my son wanted to do hockey, he was already a decent skater from just zooming around the rink, but there were a couple of skills he was missing so I hired a private teacher at Kettler to teach him and a friend. They really enjoyed it and in just a few lessons they were ready to join a hockey program.

Kettler also offers spring and summer classes that are designed to keep kids skills up, but area also a great transition for kids. Maybe private lessons and then that?
