My daughter loves to read, but she says she "only likes books with magic in them, like Harry Potter or Percy Jackson".
I am going to get her a Narnia book, don't think she's ready for Tolkein. Any suggestions for "magical" books? Not too scary.... Thanks! |

Edward Eager books are fun--Half Magic is the first.
Also E. Nesbit--Five Children and It, for example. |
| The Sisters Grimm |
| Charlie Bone series |
| magic below stairs |
| Redwall series |
| fablehaven and Eragon |
|
Howl's Moving Castle
Other books by Dianna Wynne Jones |
|
The Tortall series by Tamora Pierce. Its starts with the Song of the Lioness quartet.
M is for Magic, Stardust, Coraline, Interworld, and the Graveyard Book all by Neil Gaiman The Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan The Hobbit by Tolkein The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt |
She might like "Savvy" by Ingrid Law (and a sequel, called "Scumble"). Not hocus-pocus magic, but real-world superpowers. |
| Book of Three series by Lloyd Alexander. Seriously, its a must! |

PP once again...
Oh, and I adore Neil Gaimon. But Stardust does have some "adult" scenes that she might not be ready for. (just a few, and not X-rated, but definite R's!) |
