Best pit stops between NOVA and OBX -- traveling w/ toddler and dog

I am traveling from Falls Church to Outer Banks next weekend with the family, including a 2-year old and a large dog. I'm assuming that we will need to stop at least 2 times (if not more) on the drive down. I'd appreciate any advice about people's favorite pit stops along the route. Ideally the rest stop/restaurant/whatever would have clean bathrooms with changing station and/or be pet-friendly.

I can't speak to the dog part, but we always stop at the Starbucks in Williamsburg (last Starbucks for a long time on the drive!), and then we make one "stretch our legs" stop at Powell's Roadside Market, which is about an hour from OBX - bonus there is you can stock up on great fruits and veggies, minus is that it is a portapotty There is also South of the Border as you cross from VA to NC.

Mid county park in Williamsburg. Great playground -- wooden towers, stages, ships and tunnels surround tire swings and sliding boards. (and there's a Starbucks nearby if needed)
