considering moving to Crestview neighborhood in Bethesda. A few questions...

Anonymous
Hello,
We are considering buying a home in this close-in neighborhood and would love feedback. I've heard it's very oriented around the neighboring elem school, but our children are currently at a private school close by. Are there many other families whose children are also in private or would this make our children feel a bit like outsiders? I love the proximity to DC and to Spring Valley, the possibility of having a yard, etc, but I do want to make sure our children won't feel a bit excluded due to the school situation as the years go by.
If we move, this would be a big change from our being in the city and I don't want to make a decision we'll regret.
Any thoughts?
TIA!

it is a very friendly area but you are correct that most of the kids go to public. I only know one family with kids in private. That doesn't mean you'd be ostracized, of course, just that it might be harder. But wouldn't that be the same in any MCPS neighborhood? I would think in most suburban neighborhoods most kids go to public.

I guess you're right that most MCPS neighborhoods would have public school kids. My friend who lives in that area made it sounds like the whole neighborhood social scene revolved around the school.
I guess I don't want my children to feel like outsiders in their own neighborhood. (I grew up far from where my school was and didn't have any kids around who went to my school)
Guess I am trying to find the "perfect" place to buy a home...maybe this is a compromise we have to make.
Thanks for your post!
