Travel Discussion

I have the opportunity to get away by myself for a couple of days sometime in late Oct or early Nov and I have set my sights on the Florida beaches for the sun and ease of travel to get there. I am looking for:
1) peace and quiet 2) something beachfront which provides lounges and some shade on the beach 3) a pool 4) maybe a small inn or bed and breakfast, but larger relaxing hotels would be OK too 5) a place not too too far from the airport 6) nothing crazy pricey (<$200/night would be good, <$150 would be better) Thanks so much for your suggestions! |

I lived in florida for ten years and the only ONLY "shade" i saw on the beach was in Hollywood. Also one of my favorite south florida beaches (mainly because it's low-key and there are actually palm trees and little restaurants right on the beach)

Go to Delray Beach - it's awesome
The Eden Roc, Miami Beach
Fort Lauderdale or Miami. In Miami Beach and South Beach, there are hotels that are directly on the beach. In Fort Lauderdale, there are beachfront hotels, but you have to cross the street from the hotel to the beach.
Diplomat Country Club and Spa in Hallandale Beach or the Westin Diplomat in Hollywood.
I like Captiva - or Sanibel - outside Ft. Myer but I like nature exploration stuff with my beach vacation. The shells on the beach are incredible and biking the wildlife refuge is fun, but mostly I want to take the boat trip to the deserted island state park at Cayo Costa, and go to Cabbage Key for a cheeseburger in paradise.
If I were planning to do some shopping I'd probably find something near Lincoln Road in Miami Beach.
