| Just looked at my 15 yr old's Itouch "history" for three days and found lots of porn. Do I take the itouch away from him? I've already told him I don't want him looking at porn. Is it a losing battle that I should ignore? Do all 15 yr olds look at porn? Should I get him a playboy in exchange for being super strict with the touch, as another poster suggested? I would like him to not look at it but I don't know if I'm being realistic? |

Yes, the vast majority of 15 year olds are interested in looking at porn, but that doesn't mean it's ok for them to have unfettered access to it.
Your 15 year old is curious but he doesn't NEED porn. I would sit down and have a serious talk with him and then take away the iTouch unless it's possible to turn off web access and allow him only games that you approve of and download from your computer. And really, why does he need an iTouch at all? |

This happened to us with our 14yo son. We took away his iTouch for a couple of months, then installed Mobicip safe browser on it.
http://www.mobicip.com/online_safety/ipod_touch We de-installed Firefox and set up the Mobicip so that he cannot download any other browser. The device lives in our room at night. |
| Either take away the phone or disable the internet access. It's a no brainer. |
| No your son shouldn't be looking at porn with your permission and no you shouldn't be buying him playboys. Is that really the values and attitudes towards women and healthy sexuality you want to instill in him. Maybe a frank discussion about how unreal porn is, how women are treated in the porn industry and how if he treats women like porn stars or has expectations based on porn (given he likely has little real life experience) he is going to end up with problems. If he sneaks porn - whatever, but you allowing it and condoning it - nope. Take the Itouch away. |
