Brown/tan spots on whites of eyes

I've noticed that I have a few of these, no vision issues. I am in my 40s, but have friends who are older whose sclera ( I learned that term from internet research on this issue) are totally clear.

Anyone know of any causes/treatments for this, could poor circulation be a cause? I just got insurance and will be visiting an eye dr soon, but just wondering if anyone else has this and if you've been able to get rid of them...

Well, I know you can get freckles in the eye. I just had an eye check and the optician checked for that since I have melanoma (which you can also get in the eye ... but extremely rare). See what the eye dr says.

I have had one of these for many years. The ophthalmologist whom I asked about it called it a melanosis, saying it was kind of like a mole in my eye. He said to keep an eye on it like any mole, but otherwise it was no big deal. He did ask me my ethnic background, as apparently it is more common among peoples who have more melanin in general, but I'm a Northern European mutt and all white as far as I know. Later ophthalmologists haven't mentioned it at all. HTH.
