Does anyone have experience with this Potomac, MD dentist??

My daughter had an appt. with Dr. Michelle Keaney from Amy Light's practice a couple of weeks ago. We were told that she needs three fillings. I brush her teeth with her and floss(!) twice daily, so this came as a shocker.

Has anyone had any experience Dr. Keaney or her work esp. cavities? My daughter is six. While Amy Light advertises her practice as "pediatric" we are noting that not all of the dentists, including Dr. Keaney, have done specific pediatric training. Not that this matters, but we feel it is a bit of false advertising. Dr. Keaney is a general dentist, and has not done a pediatric fellowship.

Also, we are concerned that our daugher seems to see a different dentist each time we go. Isn't continuity of care important?

I'd be interested in hearing the experiences of others with this dental practice and specifically experiences--good and bad--with Dr. Keaney.
We are unable to find much on her, including the number of years she has been in practice.

Thank you.

We've been with this practice since DS was 3 years old. He is 16 now. We've seen Dr. Keaney several times and never had any questionable experiences. She may not have had formal training in pediatrics but she has been with Dr. Light for probably around 10 years. On the job training counts for a lot I think. Now DS, and DD who is 12 and goes to the practice as well, have never had any issues with their teeth. I was proactive about getting as many teeth sealed as possible, even if it wasn't covered by insurance. I really think that has helped. They do push the ortho pretty hard. We were told that DS needed full braces etc. We ended going with another ortho that's a family friend. DS ended up with invisalign braces which worked very well for him. Anyway, I would just ask for another opinion from another dentist there.

they're awesome, my 2 kids (7 and 4yo) go there and have seen many of the providers, we love Dr. Kearney.
The kids love the dentist, they are efficient, relaxed, competent and have a nice waiting room, plus participate with our insurance!.

My daughter (8) has seen Dr. Keanny several times. Most recently, she extracted a tooth for her. My daughter's mouth was very crowded and with a permenant tooth coming in so far behind the baby tooth that the baby tooth was not loosening appropriately. Dr. Keanny suggested we give daughter laughing gas before novacaine shot. However, because my daugther did not seem the least bit anxious an and tolerates shots well, I opted not to expose her to the additional narcotics. She handled it beautifully without the laughing gas. My daughter hardly flinched. I couldn't believe it. I could have used a sedative because I found it very stressful to watch . . . but Dr. Keanny was calm, cool, and it apparently never occurred to my daughter that she should be nervous. It could not have gone better from my perspective. I like her a lot!! She's probably my favorite in the practice.
