My daughter wants to take Ballet. She was in a few ballet petite classes when she was very young 3-4. She enjoyed them. They read a story and did a few little dances. Of course, there wasn't much you could do with little girls so young. It was mainly a fun class.
I would like to find a beginning ballet class for her. Something that isn't tooo rigourous. I am trying to steer clear of Ballet Petite. Maybe it is just me, but they strike me as very commercial and over priced and seem to want to make money on moms who just want to dress up their little girls in ballet outfits and watch them run around. Is there anything else anyone might recommend for a six and a half year old? Something fun, where she can dress up, but may get a bit of exercise and learn beginning ballet as well. I am in Montgomery County. Thanks! |
| maryland youth ballet in silver spring. once a week classes. You must enroll for the full school year. However, it's a bit "rigorous" meaning ballet "manners" (e.g., no talking in class, staying in straight lines, returning to the same spot every week, hair in a bun, assigned uniform with no twirly skirts) are expected. Registration begins in ~June for new students and the classes do fill up. Your daughter would be Ballet 3 if she turns 7 by Sept 1st, otherwise Ballet 2. |

| American Dance Institute in Rockville has a wonderful program and great facilities. It's in the area behind Congressional Plaza on The Pike. |
