Sleepaway camp for boys?

I'd like my sons to have a camp experience similar to mine -- traditional camp stuff; heavy on sports and outdoors, light on religion; coed or nearby sister camp; builds up to about four weeks each summer; same kids year after year. Anywhere (great) like that around here?

Several boys at the school where I work enjoy Camp Friendship in Palmyra, VA. Palmyra is near Charlottesville.

I went to Camp Friendship for 3 summers and loved it. I'm a girl however. I will be checking out Falling Creek Camp in NC as I've heard it is a great environment for boys.

Look at Shiloh (near Culpeper VA) or Catoctin (near Frederick MD) Quaker Camps. Co-ed, high number of returning campers, lots of outdoors/backpacking, most counselors are former camps. Culminates in recommended 4 weeks for rising 9th graders and then additional options for two years of 3-week sessions for the teens. My DS and DD each attended for 5 years. Catoctin tends to fill up earlier. Quaker-run, but many non-Quakers attend. http://www.bymcamps.org/

Depends on how far you want to send your kids.

Camp Chen-a-wanda in Pennsylvania is a great co-ed sleep away camp.

There are a ton of great sleep-away camps in the Berkshires in Mass.
