10,000 steps a day... pls recommend your pedometer

Anonymous
Does anyone carry a pedometer to track your steps a day? I want to try for the 10,000 steps goal. Pls recommend your pedometer, what you like about it, and approx. how much it cost. Is it true that some of them track calories burnt too?

TIA! This would be helpful info to me and I appreciate your input. Trying to get healthier.

I got this one OMRON HJ720ITC. It's a little bulky, but I love the software that comes with it. I can plug it into my computer and chart my progress. You can also set goals for yourself (x amount of steps per day, for example) and the graphs will show you if you met your goal or not.

OMG! I just started this during this week! I got this pedometer from amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Omron-HJ-112-Digital-Pocket-Pedometer/dp/B0000U1OCI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1301486999&sr=8-1

It had over 3,000 customer reviews and it is really quite awesome. You can literally toss it in your pocket and off you go. I've never had such an accurate pedometer. I don't think it has computer software like PPs, but I don't really have time for that in any case. It does have a memory feature so you can see your steps over the past week.

I use an Omron hj 303 which I got from Amazon for about $29.00. It is tri axis, which means it will record in any position...this is important. It records steps, M.I.E steps (which is what I got it for) and total steps over 7 days. 10,000steps is a good goal. 30 plus minutes daily of M.I.E. is supposedly better. At any rate, just keep walking and stay healthy.

If you're willing to spend more, I'm a big fan of the FitBit. It's small enough to clip to your bra strap, synchs with your computer whenever you walk past it and keeps track of steps, calories, burned and distance walked. Once your info is in the computer you can set goals, input your food consumption, etc. Cannot say enough good things about this little guy!
