Which makes better toned legs... rower or bike?

If you don't want your legs to grow at all, you prob have to cut way down on your calories and only do Tracy Anderson-style leg movements. I say this as someone who loves weight training (including big lifts, e.g. 5x5) and doesn't think skinnier legs are better. But weight training does not make my legs "skinny" and toned, it definitely makes them bigger and more muscular.

But they only get bigger and more muscular with extra cals. If you are eating in a deficit (aka dieting), they won’t get bigger.

NP. I hate the elliptical and only do it when my body can't take anything else. I find it so dull. Although it is easy to do sprints/HIIT on it, so that's one good thing.

+1 and diet. You only get “toned” by putting on muscle and getting rid of the fat.

All of this.

That might be another option. When I went to the gym, I used to use the bike, the elliptical, and the rower. One piece of equipment that I definitely would not use is a treadmill. I am not a runner. And, I find running hard on the joints. No matter what I choose, I will be watching what I eat. Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I am now figuring out which of these pieces of equipment would be used by the most people in my family. My husband would use the Peloton/exercise bike the most. And, I probably would use it too. I just don’t like the high cost of it and the monthly fee! ?

New poster here. I did a ton of these via the insanity workouts and felt like my legs did not get particularly toned. Just got a Peloton.
