Uniforms maybe???

You can tell from this thread there are SO many different things that might be seen as cool here but out there and tastes change so much at that age from day to day.

I just give AMC gift cards or iTunes. Much easier.

You all can draw your inspiration from here:

The kids of the "big 3" aspire to this lifestyle and have been made to believe they DESERVE nothing less for their hard work.

I know. Do you spend more if the kid is in private? Still more if elite private?

OP - do. You know anything about these kids? Otherwise, any store with a gift receipt works fine.

Helly Hansen jackets are the must-have item of the season for all the boys at St. Albans!

my 12 yo son likes colorful athletic socks from nike or underarmour. he also appreciates gifts of $ so he can make his own choices.

My DS is a 13 yo at Landon (Go Bears!) and Nike Elite socks are still big. A bowtie might be a hit (a number of the boys wear them), an Underarmour hoodie, anything lacrosse-y. Yes to vineyard vines. Something from http://smathersandbranson.com.

Black & Milds are becoming the hot item at Landon this year. You can find them for a pretty good price here: http://www.cigarsinternational.com/cigars/12513/black-mild/

Please tell us this is a joke -- encouraging teens to smoke cigars or engage in smoking anything.

I think it really depends on the school...my kids are at a "Big 3" (hate that term) and none of them ever wear those, but I see them all the time at the public school in where I work.

St. Albans kids wear them all the time.

Georgetown Prep see them all the time.

Anonymous wrote:Yikes. Lily Pulitzer and Vineyard Vines are for basic suburban parents. Don't buy "brand name" jewelry from the mall. Go to Etsy for the jewelry. A lot more stylish and many less expensive options. If you don't know what to look for, search for jewelry makers that were at Crafty Bastard. Cool clothes for girls can be found at Violet, Current plus Cusp and the fast fashion chains (H&M, Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, Zara). Don't even bother with clothes for the straight sons.

All good points but I have a 12 y.o. DC. with besties with older sisters and Brandy Melville is @ the top of their list.

Hunter boots. Vineyard vines.

Popular among my kid and her friends:
Hunter boots
LL Bean Duck boots
Patagonia
Quilted vests
Camp socks

Not 100% about boys.
