| Chris Lilly does a lot of shows that are set in "borstal" or youth prisons in Australia. Granted they are comedies, so perhaps to be taken with a grain of salt. But there are many Samoan and Pacific Islander characters, a large percentage of the kids in lock up. |

Open again. It doesn't seem the show accurately reflects the demographics in prison. Prison population is 8% female and.....
"INDIGENOUS STATUS OF PRISONERS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander prisoners comprised just over a quarter (27% or 8,430) of the total prisoner population. The age standardised imprisonment rate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander prisoners was 1,959 per 100,000 adult Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population. This was 15 times higher than non-Indigenous prisoners for whom the age standardised imprisonment rate was 131 per 100,000 adult non-Indigenous population. (Tables 1 and 18)" |
| OP if you are that hard-pressed for insight into Australia's prisons then why don't you just pull up YouTube and search for "Australian Prisons"...I'm sure you'll find a documentary or two that can give you some idea of what they're like. |
Not that "hard-pressed", wondered if anyone had some real world experience or knowledge. I do suggest you go to YouTube and watch some cute kitten videos and lighten up. |
| I'm Australian. When I grew up in Australia, I was quite old before I saw a black person in real life. And that wasn't even in Australia. |
Honey, when you are elected to the Australian Parliament, you can work on that Meanwhile, focus your efforts on the states which is much more racist than Australia |
