Below Freezing - Neighbor's Dog's Outside

Dogs are fine outside in the cold. They have fur coats.

Dobermans are thin dogs with light coats. They are not FINE if it is below freezing. They were not bred for that kind of cold weather tolerance.

Dogs like that should be inside or in a doghouse or garage if it's below 32.

Dogs are NOT fine outside in the cold. In fact it is illegal, and considered to be animal abuse, to leave your pets outside in very cold or very hot weather. Dogs freeze to death. For example: http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/Dog-Freezes-to-Death-Outside-Kensington-Home-188606091.html

Call animal control if you see a dog outside in freezing weather.

Call the animal control.

The life of a dog is more important than the minor inconvenience this animal abusing human will suffer.

You can live with the neighbor's hostility but not with the fact that a dog died because of your inaction.

We lost a dobie from pneumonia secondary to cold exposure in the winter.

Good message thread on Dobermann's, no undercoat, etc:

OP should call animal control. If it was a dog with an undercoat/thicker fur and in it's own yard for an hour that is different. Loose dog is a huge problem. We have neighbors who were /are real problems with loose dog [s]. One is an assh0le who got a pitbull rescue - I hate that dog.

And I also was plagued by a neighbor's jack russell which now is deceased [old age].
