How often for international travel as a family

Once a year to see in-laws who live in Europe and are from there.

We try to travel internationally 3 times a year. Usually Europe in summer, Caribbean in winter and somewhere “exotic” for spring break (2 weeks at our private). HHI $500k+

what kind of work do you do that you can travel for 5 weeks at a time? That is normal elsewhere, but I haven't seen it in the US. And are your kids younger? Bc by late MS most kids are in have commitments doing breaks.

It used to be every year until the kids went to college and their schedules are wildly different. Affording it is never the issue. Finding a time when all 5 of us can go is.

Family in the UK, so we go like once every other year or so. This year we are going to a different international location.

Family of 3 that goes on 2-3 international trips per year, like 1 to Europe and 1-2 to Caribbean/Latin America/Central America. We make about $175k but I do points hacking through credit cards plus finding good deals (go where the cheap flight are) so our travel budget for out of pocket expenses is about $5k/year.

We try to go abroad once a year (or do a cost-similar domestic trip). HHI is around $325K and we have three kids. One trip we stayed in a friend's house and another we paid for flights with points - those both cut the costs of the trip almost in half each time. This summer, we're doing a longer trip and are paying for both lodging and flights, so we'll be saving money as much as possible the rest of the year. We always stay in AirBnBs, eat 1-3 meals in the house, don't do fancy excursions, etc. I think our trips are very nice and going to Europe for the third time in four years as a family of five feels very luxurious to me, but these are not luxury trips. We prioritize travel in our budget and plan trips around a year in advance to get the best deals on flights and housing.

Income now $200k. We took family in 2009 when they were upper elementary and in 2024 now that both re out of college.
