It takes a lot of time to paint them correctly and add top coat. And if they use quality paint and top coat, you are paying for it.

It should indeed be less.

No, lol. A pedicure takes about 25-30 mins if you aren't getting extras like masks, callous remover, or whatever. Painting nails, at least for an experienced nail tech, takes 2-3 minutes tops. And the cost of the polish, in the context of the overhead of running a nail salon where you have to have a lot of polish on hand, is next to nothing.

This level of cheapness likely reflects a personality problem. Stop being cheap and obsessing over such things so much that you post on the internet about it. Seriously. It's not good.

What “personality problem” would that be? The OP said where she used to live, she got pedicures and if no polish, it cost less. Apparently the owners of those salons agree.

Not OP. I typically don't get polish because my nails are really sensitive to it. I might wear it for a special occasion but unless I remove it within 36-48 hours, my nails start to flake and yellow. Happens to my fingernails as well. I don't get mani/pedis very often but do like how my nails look afterwards. As PPs have noted, applying polish is not where most the work happens.

OCPD or NPD. Could be either, really, depending on why OP is this obsessed with saving a few dollars (in an area where clearly the owners of the salons here do not "agree"). Do you get pedicures? Do you know how long you are siting there during them? And what a tiny fraction of that time is spent painting nails? Or do you paint your nails at home and think that was a "pedicure"?

I get pedicures and manicures no polish - I would caution that often in lieu of polish the technicians go crazy with the buffer. This can be damaging to nails (over buffing). I have to ask them to take it easy - I want a very minimal cleanup, shaping of nails, moisturizer and callus remover..it would be nice if salons addressed us no polish gals with something that felt special for us. Extra five min massage or whatnot..I don't mind paying the same at all.

I love getting pedicures - as other posters have mentioned, the massages/cuticle and skin care are all awesome. Of course I love the look of polish. However, having polish on all the time gradually severely dried out and damaged my toe nails (dryness issue confirmed by a dermatologist as I was concerned it could have been fungus - it wasn't). So now I only get polish on special occasions. And I do gladly pay the same price, polish or not.

To the individual who "diagnosed" the person concerned about the cost of polish as having "OCD or NPD"...Where did you get your advanced degree in psychology? Your response is cruel and totally inappropriate.

I take my dad. It’s the same price. As it should be because it disgusting.

It should be cheaper but as someone who doesn't get manis or pedis I don't have any clue how much cheaper it should be. What price difference do you all think it should be?
